Gmail is one of the most well known web based email systems around. Gmail has lots of free mail storage (10Gb as at April 2013) and access via mobile phones and the free version of Gmail also includes built-in chat capabilities. It now has a number of great new capabilities that you could be making the most of.
1. new compose function
You can now compose your email in effect over your inbox, so anything new drops into your inbox then you can see it.
2. share files directly with drive
The seamless link with Google Drive was bound to happen sooner rather than later, so you can share those large files and keep it all within the Google environment.
3. themes
If you want you can make your Gmail inbox styled and pretty – this is naff if you ask us, I guess some people like this kind of thing.
4. video chat
The fact that Microsoft now own Skype and the Apple version – facetime is so popular meant that video chat is one that for Gmail users is surely going to be successful and again keeping within the Google environment should increase your loyalty to Google.
There are of course some pretty large alternatives to Gmail such as Yahoo mail and Hotmail – we will cover these in later blog posts.
